Give Love, Not Aid.

We are the people.

In 2020, we launched our Holiday Fundraiser to spread love to families impacted by mass incarceration. In just ten days, we raised over $19,000 and gave $250 to over 75 families nationwide. Since then, with the help of our community, we’ve raised over $150,000 and supported over 650 families. This year, we hope to grow even more…

These are the numbers.

5x

Black individuals are imprisoned at a substantially higher rate than White individuals.

65%

Most families have difficulty meeting basic needs as a result of a loved one’s conviction or incarceration.

34%

Many families go into debt to pay for phone calls and visits with incarcerated family members.

$19,185

The median annual income of incarcerated people prior to their incarceration is lower than that of their peers.

We stand for love.

The People’s Fundraiser is a giving campaign dedicated to standing in solidarity with Black and Brown communities impacted by mass incarceration. Our principal mission is to identify families affected by the system and provide them with direct funding. The People’s Fundraiser believes that combatting injustices faced by Black and Brown communities, especially those in place by the criminal justice system, requires a united effort to lend both love and community, which we strive to provide with the help of our partner organizations.

We need your help.

  • Give.

Your contribution will allow us to continue supporting Black and Brown communities throughout the country. Every dollar counts and will be given directly to an impacted family.

  • Buy.

Turn90, an organization that coaches and employs formerly incarcerated men, is making and distributing shirts for our initiative. All proceeds will go toward our Holiday Fundraiser.

  • Partner.

Working with community organizations nationwide allows us to identify and connect with impacted families. Visit our Partners page to learn more and get involved.

Vibe with us.

We are a collective, not an administrative bureaucracy. So joining our movement means joining people, just like you, with strong ties to the community and a passion for change. Together, we can make the holiday season a little bit brighter for families. Help us spread the word!

We appreciate you.
